Injectable Medical Aesthetics

At Sunrise Skin, I want you to get optimal results! 

For injectables, it is recommended you schedule your appointment at least 4 weeks prior to any special events, such as weddings or vacations, to allow for complete healing and optimal results.  

Results for wrinkle relaxer can be seen as early as 3 days after your visit, but generally take up to 2 weeks for the full effect.  

You may have mild bruising or swelling within the first week and more so with dermal fillers. 

If you develop a rash, a cold sore or a blemish in the treatment area, let me know ASAP. 

If you have a history of cold sores, please let me know, as I will sometimes have you take antiviral prophylaxis, prior to treatment.  

• Avoid blood thinners before and after the procedure, if at all possible. Patients who bruise easily or take blood thinners, such as NSAIDs, may bruise more.  
• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior and post treatment. Alcohol may thin blood and increase the risk of bruising.  
• Discontinue Retin-A, 2 days before and for 2 days after treatment.  
• FOR FILLER, please do not have dental work/cleaning 2 weeks prior or post treatment.

Following these recommendations will help to minimize your risk of bruising. 

To treat post procedure bruising: 

• Arnica gel- applied to bruising 3 times a day 
• Avoid alcohol 24 hours post procedure  
• Apply ice to treatment for 5-10 minutes every couple hours  
• Makeup helps reduce appearance including cover up or long wearing lipstick, please ask me for recommendations  

For medical grade chemical peels, please make sure one week prior, you do not have electrolysis, depilatory cream, laser hair removal or waxing. 

Three days prior avoid Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Tazorac. Avoid any products that contain retinol, alpha-hydroxy acids or beta-hydroxy acids or benzoyl peroxide. Avoid any exfoliating products or procedures that may be drying or irritating. 

Please schedule your peel at least 2 weeks pre or post injectables. Day of treatment, avoid strenuous exercise and while the skin is peeling. 

After care of chemical peel includes applying sunscreen immediately, unless going to bed. 

Immediately after the peel, skin may be tight and more red than usual. Skin may feel tacky and yellow to orange tint. This is temporary and it will fade in a few hours. Please wait until bedtime to wash face. 

Peeling generally starts 48-72 hours after the procedure and it can last 2 to 5 days. DO NOT PICK OR PULL THE SKIN. Allow the skin to peel at its own pace. Premature peeling of skin can develop into post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. After care skin care regimen will be discussed at time of visit. 

For microneedling, please come to your appointment with clean skin and makeup free in the treatment area. Stop any retinol or Retin-A, 24 hours before treatment. Please expect to be pink and mildly inflamed (similar to a mild sunburn) in the treatment area for 24-48 hours. You will not apply any skincare for 24 hours post treatment, other than mask provided at time of treatment. Please avoid any sun exposure during that time period. After 24 hours post treatment you can resume your regular skincare avoiding retinol/retin-A for another 4 days. Please do not apply any vaseline or aquaphor to treatment area. Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration, as excessive blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin for 72 hours. Some clients experience some skin flaking and/or acne that first week. Sun avoidance and SPF is highly recommended post treatment for optimal results.
